Please help us!!!
Tony and Patrick will be taking part in the Novotel $10 Queenstown Challenge which starts in Auckland on 30th September and finishes in Queenstown on the 2nd October. Cure Kids has been Turnstones customer for 4 years and and we had an extremely successful event last year raising $8490.00 for Cure Kids.

The 2009 Novotel $10 Queenstown Challenge involves 35 teams of two hitch hiking and also some pre-arranged travel such as the Interislander ferry, between Auckland and Queenstown. But it's not that easy...the innovative team at CluedUp will set challenges to test us physically, creatively and mentally as we journey from north to south!

With just $10 we will have to use all possible creativity and ingenuity to make it without flying or driving ourselves. Other people can, of course, drive us, so we hope we meet plenty of generous NZers on the way who won't mind picking up hitch-hikers just this once!

Sound crazy but fun !!!
Well yes it is a little; however this is all in the name of funding medical research for children with life threatening illnesses (like diabetes and cystic fibrosis). We only have to find the energy and willpower to survive these 3 days while the kids we are raising funds for have to find the same determination to face their challenges on a daily basis.

So please could you sponsor us? Every dollar counts!
Not only are we trying to raise our entry fee of $7,000 for our team, we would like to be the winners of the Cure Kids Champion Fundraising Trophy, which will be presented at the prize giving ceremony at the end of the Race.

THE TURNSTONE TEAM

TEAM MEMBER 1 - TONY GORTON (The Brains)
As a Director of Turnstone, I have watched the positive fund raising events Cure Kids have successfully completed.
I have a lovely family with my wife Barbara, with 4 children aged 13 to 18.
We live on a lifestyle block in Dairy Flat with a menagerie of animals. This creates a very busy lifestyle with everyone participating in sport and other activities. Kids are a huge focus in our lives.
I am also the owner of Cardinal Logistics, and in my spare time I enjoy drinking, gambling and fishing !! haha !!
Pat and I met some years ago and he is my personal trainer at Les Mills gym in the city. He has a VERY hard task keeping me focused, but he has already started my training for this event so that I can keep up with him along the way.(hes quite quick for a rugby player!) I am looking forward to getting to Queenstown in one piece, meeting a bunch of interesting people, and raising heaps of money for "The Kids".
PS I promise not to use my trucks to get us there first!!!

TEAM MEMBER 2 - PATRICK FLAVELL (The Body)

When Tonys wife Barbara did this challenge last year, I said to her that I would love to do a challenge of this kind for charity. Having been lucky enough to welcome a healthy and happy boy into the world almost two years ago I appreciate that causes such as Cure Kids are so important. Therefore, now that it has been a year and the Novotel $10 Queenstown Challenge has come around again I cant think of a better time to support it.
I live with my wife Cody and our son Kalani in Mission Bay, Auckland, which we absolutely love. Having the beach, park, playground and cafes as our front yard, we are very lucky!
I have been a Personal Trainer at Les Mills World of Fitness for the last seven years and it is here that I met my team mate Tony. I have played Representative Rugby for both North Harbour and Auckland with my latest achievements including Auckland Air New Zealand Cup and the New Zealand 7s squad.
I am eagerly anticipating the experience that we will gain from this event and cant wait to get to Queenstown with such a satisfying accomplishment under my belt.
